HISTORY
Louis
L. Heil joined McDonald Transit Associates, Inc. as vice president
at its founding in 1972 and progressed through increasingly responsible
positions, becoming president and CEO in 1979. Mr. Heil was responsible
for directing effective management of public systems, and providing
contracted fixed route and demand responsive transportation services
to public agencies and municipalities.
Before his retirement in January 2002, Mr. Heil contributed 30 years
of his experience and knowledge to the company. Currently, he serves
as Chairman of the Board of Directors. His accomplishments extend
beyond McDonald Transit Associates, Inc. which includes serving
as past president of South West Transit Association, past American
Public Transit Association Vice President of Small Operations, Vice
President and Executive Director of CITRAN, Advisory Board, Chairman
of the Texas Transportation Institute, visiting faculty at both
Northeastern University and Texas A & M Transit Management Seminars
and he was a member of the Transportation Research Committee Transportation
Research Council.
His areas of expertise include transit system startup and implementation,
provision and management of transit and paratransit services, feasibility
studies, negotiation and administration of transit labor contracts,
marketing, and implementation plans. His stellar performance in
these areas earned him the 1981 Friend of Texas Transit award.
